How to reach Skövde

Skövde can be reached by air, train, and car. Skövde city is situated on the railway line between the two main cities of Sweden, Gothenburg and Stockholm.

As June is a vacation period in Sweden we recommend that you book your train tickets early in advance.

Arriving by air to Gothenburg

1. If you arrive by air to Landvetter airport, take the airport shuttle to the Nils Eriksson terminal (last stop for the airport coach). You can also use the SJ web site to make a reservation for a trip from Landvetter airport (From "Landvetter flygplats") to Skövde (To "Skövde Central"). If you arrive by air to Gothenburg City airport, take the corresponding shuttle to the Nils Eriksson terminal.

2. The Nils Eriksson terminal is adjacent to the main railway station ("Göteborg Central"). From there, take the train to Skövde.

3. In Skövde there are taxis outside the station that will take you to the hotel just outside the city centre (if no taxi is available at the station, phone numbers to taxi compaines are listed below).

Arriving by air to Stockholm

1. If you arrive at Arlanda airport, take Arlanda Express from the airport to Stockholm central station. You can also use the SJ web site to make a reservation for a trip from Arlanda airport (From "Arlanda Central") to Skövde (To "Skövde Central"). Please note that there are different stations inside Arlanda airport. Long distance trains depart from "Arlanda Central", whereas Arlanda Express trains depart from "Arlanda Norra Station" and "Arlanda Södra Station".

2. From Stockholm central station, take the train to Skövde. The time table for the fast X2000 train can be found here.

3. In Skövde there are taxis outside the station that will take you to the hotel just outside the city centre (if no taxi is available at the station, phone numbers to taxi compaines are listed below).

• It is also possible to rent a car at Landvetter airport in Gothenburg and go by car to Skövde. We recommend that you make your reservation in advance. The distance from Landvetter airport to Skövde is 146 kilometers. From Arlanda, the distance to Skövde is approximately 355 kilometers. This link (unfortunately in Swedish) gives a map for the road from Landvetter airport to the conference hotel in Skövde.
• Nationals in the majority of countries outside the EU require a visa to visit Sweden. Please consult the Swedish Migration Board web site for more information.

Conference Venue

The OSS 2009 conference will be held at First Hotel Billingehus, Skövde, Sweden. Room reservations will be handled via registration for the OSS 2009 conference (as we have made a block reservation for rooms). Registration for the conference and reservation for accommodation will be handled via registration for the OSS 2009 conference. The hotel is situated on the mountain of Billingen, and the Hotel restaurant offers sweeping views across the plains of Västergötland.

University of Skövde

The University of Skövde is a relatively young university, offering a range of subjects traditionally taught at universities as well as unique study programmes in a large number of fields. Many of our programmes combine several fields of study and the result is something quite new and exciting.

For example, in the autumn 2008 we started a new 3-year (B.Sc.) study programme "Open Source - Systems Developer", which is the only one focused on Open Source in Sweden.
